My Rig and Firefox 1.5.0.1

The Firefox browser is eating up my rigs resources. check the image understandable. If you don’t get it, its not my problem. :D

Just kidding!

  1. firefox-bin – the Firefox browser binary application.
  2. firefox is eating up 42.8% of the ram resources. If more tabs it can reach to 60% up! how bloated!
  3. 2844k or around 2.8mb of the ram is free. poor me. My rig is really poor.

If my Firefox browser is open and i also open some application like OpenOffice or the Azureus Torrent client base on Java. My PC really crawls bigtime! I Hope i can upgrade soon.

Some guy based in California i meet at Freenode Network at ##Slackware Channel (i do some help/technical support for Slackware Linux if im free) after some chat he offered his 2x128mb ddr stick. sweet! I don’t know if it was delivered last 2weeks ago as he promised. It would be arriving this week or early next week. He also offered his noisy 40GB harddisk as he has already have 2Terabytes big harddisk but due to high cost of freight for harddisk it was not part of the free packaged.

If there some good person out there willing to send their surplus hardware… don’t hesitate to donate it to me! haha!

Heres my PC Desktop used GNU/Linux Slackware 10.2 Distro as Operating System and some Network info.

Heres my CPU Information.

Heres the information about my DDR and Harddisk. I have 2 maxtor – 80GB and 1 40GB. My harddisk is full of anime that’s why in the graph is RED. I need to free space soon. I’ll burn my Anime’s collection to DVD soon. Inshallah!

    assalamu alaikum,

why wont your try using alternative program? azurues is a great program… i use it to but it uses so much memory. there are lots of other bittorent programs that has less memory consumption but still doin the same work. firefox is better than other internet browser, specialy compare to IE. try then disabling other software that runs on your startup that you dont need.

why not try burning your anime collections on dvd? it could give you alot of disk spaces.. =)

    waalaykumissalam!

yes i use an alternative program. actually its console/terminal base. it’s not memory bloated as it just run on shell and it’s ncurses based. it’s not have pretty GUI. hehe.

firefox is better than other browser like IE. in my current rig if i use winXP it really crawls bigtime, thanks to linux. Linux is my primary desktop.

i don’t have a dvd-writer. don’t have money to buy one. poor me.

oh ic… so i guess you just have to wait untill you can buy a dvd burner. Inshallah! by the way what linux os do you use? suse? redhat? i like using fedora core 4 as my alternative to Xp. you know sometimes microsoft tends to be to soft in making there OS secure in viruses and spywares etc… hehehe so i always tend to reformat and reinstall my XP. =(

hope your all doin well there.

    Salam

    i guess i will wait for years… hehe. :D

i use Slackware Linux with XFCE as my desktop. If you want screenshot .. i’ll post it here. hehe.

i only have 128mb ram so i can’t have a good windows XPerience. haha! i’m better off and satisfied with Linux.

  5. j_lim2k2 says:

hahaha i guess your right…no wonder you complained of ram shortage. Xp is a memory slug… 128mb of ram is not even enough to run the Os alone. lol! have you tried using Fedora core 4? i use it because the development is very fast compare to other linux os. can you share some snapshot? try removing some graphics on your OS. it can reduce the ram consumption a little bit. :)

  6. wyzemoro says:

yes i tried fedora core before but i prefer slackware to any other linux distribution.

    heres link of the screenshot.
